Zacht got a bow for Christmas and is shooting pretty well. His bow is set at 30 lbs is this enough to hunt with and if so what kind of arrows would you recommend.

Thanks

Welcome, and it is always great to see the youngsters getting involved in archery!  Different states have different minimum bow weights and requirements.  Are you in Al - their min bow wt is 35lbs.  As for arrow selection, you can go to eastons web site and use their calculator, or if that doesn't work, post his draw length here and we can figure it out.

Is the bow adjustable, what kind is it?

Most archery shops just carry generic youth arrows that aren't really a "match" for the lower weight youth bows.

There are no "hunting" arrows for that combo, but the easton jazz in a 1416 or 1413 would work as would Redline 780s and Beman Flash 1000s.  These would probably have to be special ordered unless the local range has a very active youth/JOAD program.

You really don't get a selection of "hunting" arrows to about 40lbs.  Do you have a local archery club or range?   You can learn alot (good and bad...) from shooting with other archers.  Take care and keep us posted.

If you don't have a local shop, you can order the arrows from FSDiscount Archery.  Do you have a local range, club or JOAD program?

It is adjustable and it is a Hoyt.

Ask the omnipetent Shaw on the hoyt.  My 12 year old son Cj shoots Carbon Surpreme, with Muzzy broadheads.  He killed his first deer with is bow this year.  (parker) star wars fight
